THE SCOTS KNOW A TUNE TOO...
A Scottish musical on a totally different level, Glasgow Girls, by David Greig, runs at The Abbey this week for just four days and six performances (WedSat). It’s based on a true story about seven teenagers putting up a fight for their asylumseeking friend and her family, taken from their home to be deported. First performed in 2012, it was a huge success at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016. And for those interested in current theatrical politics, it’s an Abbey production in association with a Scottish group.
Heather, at Bewley’s until February 23 is a play with a twist, about a reclusive writer, prejudice and the power of language. Why does Heather avoids her fans, and how can knowledge about writers affect our appreciation of their books?
