Thanks to Cansei de Ser Sexy’s Lets Make Love And Listen To Death From Above, Jesse Keeler’s old band will live on for some time to come. Even before Death From Above 1979 called it a day last August, Keeler’s vowel-less MSTRKRFT collaboration with Al Puodziukas (who produced DFA’s ace You're A Woman, I’m A Machine album) was already on the tracks, turning out note-worthy remixes for Annie, The Kills, Bloc Party, Metric and The Gossip. It’s probably because of such activity that MSTRKRFT seemed to emerge fully formed earlier this year, with a booming, dashing and compulsive sound already in place for their debut album, The Looks. Support tonight comes from Aleko, another Irish act producing excellent sonic booms, and busy Backlash boy Jon Averill. If you’re still itching for some dancefloor rock after MSTRKRFT, check out Dubliner-in-New-York Marcus Lambkin’s Shit Robot soundclash at Space Camp on Saturday.
