Cast­ing call for Hub­bard gong

Cast­ing di­rec­tor Ros Hub­bard has been feted for her out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tion to the film and TV in­dus­tries in the an­nual ci­ta­tions made by Women in Film and TV (WFTV). She re­ceived her award from ac­tors Michael Sheen and Ja­son Isaacs at the WFTV cer­e­mony in Lon­don this month.

Ros, who is from Dublin, set up Hub­bard Cast­ing with her hus­band John 31 years ago. Their chil­dren, Dan and Amy, have since fol­lowed them into the busi­ness.

Their no­table dis­cov­er­ies have in­cluded Or­lando Bloom, whom they cast in the Lord of the Rings tril­ogy, and Kate Winslet, who made her fea­ture film de­but in an ear­lier Peter Jack­son film, Heav­enly Crea­tures. In ad­di­tion to pre­sid­ing with Alan Parker over the epic Ir­ish cast­ing process for The Com­mit­ments, the many no­table Hub­bard Cast­ing cred­its in­clude Evita, An­gela’s Ashes, The Bourne Supremacy, United 93 and The Da Vinci Code.

Ros Hub­bard re­cently turned pro­ducer with The Christ­mas Mir­a­cle of Jonathan Toomey, which is due for re­lease late next year.
