More sell-outs?

Paula Flynn’s cover ver­sion of Let’s Dance, cur­rently fea­tur­ing on TV ads for a cer­tain brand of bot­tled wa­ter, kick-started an in­ter­est­ing de­bate on the On the Record blog about the ins and outs of mu­si­cians singing for their sup­per on ad­ver­tise­ments.

To quote reader Kim Fow­ley, “if Flynn wants to work for them, why doesn’t she just get her­self a suit and an of­fice in their head­quar­ters and be done with it?”

Still, it hasn’t done Flynn any harm yet. Her ver­sion the clas­sic Bowie num­ber is re­leased by EMI Ire­land on May 18th.
