PAUL OAKENFOLD Paul Oakenfold 24/7 Hi-Fi Entertainment

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - Music Reviews - JIM CARROLL

C’mon, what Ticket reader wouldn’t relish a chance to enjoy the world’s favourite superstar DJ at work and at play all around the globe? For those interested in such minutiae, Paul Oakenfold 24/7 will probably be a bigger hit this summer than the new series of Big Brother (the Oakie theme tune linking the two). For the rest of us, and especially those who view the producer and DJ as dull, uninspired and overrated, it will do little to change our opinion of the once influential Oakenfold. The DVD allows us to see him watching his fave football team Chelsea, burning up the air-miles as he jets from London to Los Angeles, and hanging out with his equally superstar mates (that would be Tiesto, Judge Jules, John Digweed, Timo Maas and co). Throughout, you get the feeling that he really, really needs a haircut. www.pauloaken
