The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - Listings - RAY COMISKEY

Once an icon of 1960s jazz, Charles Lloyd (below) remains a high-profile name in the business, and he has no trouble attracting the best players for his bands. For his third visit in as many years he brings a group of heavy hitters in the persons of pianist Jason Moran, one of the young lions on the US jazz scene; a fine bassist, Ruben Rodgers; and a marvellous drummer in Eric Harland. Lloyd’s visit is part of the impressive jazz series lined up by Note Productions, in association with the Helix, which also spotlights some of the best talent on the local stage. This time it’s the turn of pianist Greg Felton’s quartet, with saxophonist Michael Buckley, bassist Cormac O’Brien and the brilliant (and almost ubiquitous) drummer, Seán Carpio. They’re all part of a double bill at the Helix tonight.
