He has also directed plays for Red Kettle, the Abbey and the Project, and is a fine actor-interpreter of his own work. He currently lives in Cavan, where he was for a time writer-in-residence for Ramor Theatre, which applied to the Arts Council for funding to commission and produce his new play, The Tinker’s Curse. Local Livin’ Dred company is staging it until tomorrow in Ramor, from which they will bring it on an extensive tour to regional venues. The play is about the world of the Travellers, rooted in myth and superstition, and its power over ordinary lives. The excellent cast includes Mary McEvoy, Andrew Bennett and Aaron Monaghan, directed by Padraic McIntyre.
