Jazz fans are spoiled for choice over the next seven days. The great Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stanko (above) is back with his quartet: he’s in Dublin (Tuesday), Cork (Wednesday), Navan (Thursday) and in Bray, Cork again and Limerick next week. In Galway, a modestly scaled but interesting festival opens tonight with the excellent bop-oriented pianist Roberto Magris. He will be followed tomorrow by US pianist Benny Lackner and on Sunday by singers Honor Heffernan and Aoife Doyle. Singer Dorothy Murphy will tour next week with her group Circleways; they’ll be in Cork (Tuesday), Limerick (Wednesday) and Waterford (Thursday). And French pianist Francois Couturier brings his superb Nostalghia Quartet to the National Concert Hall next Tuesday. RAY COMISKEY
