Blank can­vas: Dublin gears up for in-tents ex­pe­ri­ence

With the Point closed un­til late 2008, pro­mot­ers are plan­ning to pitch big mar­quees in Dublin 8 as tem­po­rary con­cert sites.

Ar­cade Fire are the first stars un­der can­vas, with shows at MCD’s Big Top in the Phoenix Park on Oc­to­ber 23rd and 24th. For­mer Stone Rose Ian Brown is here on Oc­to­ber 28th, Bloc Party are in on Novem­ber 3rd, and En­rique In­gle­sias crashes the indie rock party on Novem­ber 5th.

From Oc­to­ber 23rd un­til Novem­ber 3rd, POD Con­certs will hold the Some Days Never End fes­ti­val in the grounds of the Ir­ish Mu­seum of Mod­ern Art. Acts con­firmed to date in­clude Groove Ar­mada with Dizzee Ras­cal (Oc­to­ber 25th), Jose Gon­za­lez (26th); Pet Shop Boys (27th); and The Frames with John Cale (31st).

Aiken Pro­mo­tions also joins the tented party with Live at the Mar­quee in the Phoenix Park, star­ring Kanye West (Novem­ber 30th), Cas­cada (De­cem­ber 5th) and oth­ers acts to be an­nounced.
