The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - Listings -

There are so many bands coming out of Canada these days that we all might as well give up, pack up and move over there. Leslie Feist is one of the many artists who have crossed The Ticket’s path in the past two years. She started off in a Canadian punk band called Placebo (not the US/UK punk/goth/glam act) and then played in a succession of bands (including By Divine Right and Peaches) until Broken Social Scene took her fancy.

Since then, it’s been Juno awards, adulation from indie-rock crowds from Calgary to Clogherhead, and the kind of kudos that many other acts would trade their copyrights for.

We probably won’t be hearing any of BSS’s material tonight, but that’s okay as Feist is no slouch in the solo material department, as her distinctive solo works, Monarch (Lay Down Your Jewelled Head), Let it Die, Open Season and The Reminder, show. (NB At time of going to press we have just learned that this concert is sold out.) TONY CLAYTON-LEA Can’T see ThaT? CaTch This Patrick Watson, Sugar Club, Dublin (Saturday)
