The world-leading Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir gave The Last Concert of Old Europe in Galway the night before the European Union embraced the countries of Eastern Europe in 2004. They’re back in Ireland this weekend for an even bigger project, two performances of Arvo Pärt’s quietly monumental, penitential Kanon Pokajanen (in Ballintubber Abbey and Dublin’s Pro-Cathedral) and two presentations of shorter works by Pärt (above) with a selection of works by other Estonian composers (in Galway and Drogheda).
