A fine forecast
ANDREW WEATHERALL Crawdaddy, Dublin Fri 11.30pm 115 01-4763374 A rockabilly compilation? Sure why not? That Andrew Weatherall’s most recent release was an on-point set of old-school rockers should surprise no-one. Doing what no one expects him to do has served Weatherall well, be it inventing indie-dance, running a string of seminal London club nights such as Sabresonic, throwing down some thrilling dungeon electronica as the Sabres of Paradise, mapping far-out techno with Keith Tenniswood as Two Lone Swordsmen or running the Rotters’ Golf Club label. A compilation such as
gathering together Gene Vincent, Charlie Feathers, Tav Falco’s Panther Burns and The Cramps, was perfectly in keeping with the DJ and producer’s maverick ethos.
But Weatherall’s eclectism is not just for show, and his musical smarts are unparalleled, as anyone who has experienced one of the DJ sets knows too well. Support tonight is from Big Dish Go’s Gavin Feeney plus a live set from Americhord. JIM CARROLL Can’T see ThaT?
