SNOW WHITE Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin Previews Dec 14-17 Opens Dec 17 6.30pm from 125 01-8721122 Karl Broderick (writer) and Alan Hughes (performer), now under the banner of Anthem Productions, continue to produce the hugely popular annual pantomime in the Liberty Hall theatre. It is a far cry from the original outings in a tiny venue in Merchant’s Quay, but the ghosts of past Christmases there still inspire the style and content of the later centre-city creations. These are essentially based on traditional pantomime stories and characters, joined by an inspired newcomer – the character of Sammy Sausages, delivered by the ebullient Hughes. Another more recent favourite is Dame Buffy, the hilariously eccentric Joe Conlan, whose comic energy is boundless. Singer and TV personality Linda Martin also returns as the Evil Queen. The romantic leads battled their way to the roles via a Star Search, and Michele McGrath will take the title role, joined by Kyle Kennedy as the Prince. The objective is simple and unrestrained fun, and the imaginative mix has never yet failed to deliver it, in spades.
