Executive sweet

MGMT Academy, Dublin Sat 9pm 116 01-8779999 “Let’s make some music, let’s make some money, find some models for wives.” Well, at least they’re honest. Brooklyn duo Ben Goldwasser and Andrew Vanwyngarden are the newest sonic cadets on the block, and they’re coming your way. Having bonded over a mutual love of Spacemen 3, My Bloody Valentine, Suicide and prog-rock supremacists King Crimson while at college in Connecticut, MGMT (the name chosen, say the pair, because it sounds corporate and mysterious – half of which is correct) then headed to New York, from where they plan world domination via the release of their first album, Oracular Spectacular. Making their debut in Ireland, the duo look set to ruffle feathers with their “indie-is-crap” approach; the music (which they described as “alien”) will upset a few people, too. The keys to the executive toilet can’t be too far away, then.
