ST PA­TRICK’S WEEK­END CLUB­BING His­tory does not record whether St Pa­trick was a rocker or a raver, but ei­ther way he would find plenty to keep him on the dance­floor this week­end.

For alt hip-hop fans, the visit of Edan and Dagha to Dublin (Satur­day) and Cork (Sun­day) for the Jour­ney To The Cen­tre of The Beats nights are es­sen­tial. Fans of the Kom­pakt la­bel’s thrilling elec­tronic sounds will be pay­ing homage when Michael Mayer vis­its Dublin on Sun­day, where sup­port comes from Andrew But­ler, the New York-based pro­ducer be­hind the ex­cel­lent Her­cules & Love Af­fair (But­ler is in Belfast tonight, see fea­ture, p4).

There are Ir­ish vis­its this week­end too from Aussie elec­tro-rock duo The Pre­sets (Dublin, Sun­day and Belfast, Mon­day) and turntab­list dons DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist (Dublin, Fri­day). Those seek­ing home­grown fare should check out Mixed Salad (Dublin, Sun­day), where dozens of lads with decks will be throw­ing elec­tro, house and techno shapes all day long).
