Paddy goes to clubland
ST PATRICK’S WEEKEND CLUBBING History does not record whether St Patrick was a rocker or a raver, but either way he would find plenty to keep him on the dancefloor this weekend.
For alt hip-hop fans, the visit of Edan and Dagha to Dublin (Saturday) and Cork (Sunday) for the Journey To The Centre of The Beats nights are essential. Fans of the Kompakt label’s thrilling electronic sounds will be paying homage when Michael Mayer visits Dublin on Sunday, where support comes from Andrew Butler, the New York-based producer behind the excellent Hercules & Love Affair (Butler is in Belfast tonight, see feature, p4).
There are Irish visits this weekend too from Aussie electro-rock duo The Presets (Dublin, Sunday and Belfast, Monday) and turntablist dons DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist (Dublin, Friday). Those seeking homegrown fare should check out Mixed Salad (Dublin, Sunday), where dozens of lads with decks will be throwing electro, house and techno shapes all day long).
