TG4 GRADAM CEOIL AWARDS INEC, Killarney, Co Kerry Fri 7.30pm 125 064-71555 This year’s TG4 Gradam Ceoil Awards ceremony, the Oscars of the trad world, move to Killarney’s INEC, where the great and the good will gather on the red carpet tonight. Less an occasion to break out the designer clobber than a golden opportunity to catch a slew of acclaimed musicians in the one place. Despite its Good Friday slot, this year’s awards concert promises to reach for the gutsy spirit of the music.

This year’s Traditional Musician Of The Year, Clare fiddler Martin Hayes (right), heads a line-up that also includes Martin Tourish and Iarla Ó Lionáird, Young Traditional Musician and Singer Of The Year respectively.

Joe and Siobhán O’Donovan, two veterans of the sean nós dancing fraternity, are honoured as well, having graced dance floors the length and breadth of the country for the bones of eight decades. Peadar Ó Riada and Harry Bradshaw complete the line-up but expect many surprise guests along the way.
