Buckley goes electronic at the NCH
COMPOSERS’ CHOICE: LINDA BUCKLEY NCH John Field Room, Dublin Tues 8pm 15 01-4170000 Composer Linda Buckley divides her time between Berlin and Dublin. She’s currently studying for a PhD in composition under Donnacha Dennehy at TCD where she also lectures in music. Both of the new works being premièred at her National Concert Hall Composers’ Choice concert on Tuesday involve electronics, Q for voice (Natasha Lohan), and galura for piano trio (the Fidelio Trio). She has chosen to place these in the context of her earlier Volt (for violin and piano) and Jöklar (for piano), as well as pieces by Salvatore Sciarrino (his Piano Trio No 1), Kaija Saariaho ( Spins and Spells), Donnacha Dennehy ( Bulb), György Ligeti (one of his Études for piano), and Conlon Nancarrow (the 1935 Toccata for violin and piano).
