Even after two decades of peerless productions, Carl Craig (left) is still going strong. The passion and intensity of his releases and remixes of late indicate the Detroit innovator has no intention of simply resting on his laurels. That’s notwithstanding the fact that his output to date is quite something, a stunning parade of symphonies, full to the brim with drama and panache.

The recent Sessions release showcases Craig’s ability to wring emotion from simple grooves to devastating effect. From space-age jams such as Paperclip People’s Throw, to the ecstatic dancefloor tweakery of Faze Action’s In The Trees, a C2 re-rub always seems to transport a track to another dimension. Most of all, what remains remarkable about Craig is how he weaves in and out of sounds and genres without ever falling short of the mark.

Support on the night is from John Hennessy with Scribble's Colm Kenefick and Stee Downes in the foyer.
