PRESUMPTION Chadwick’s Theatre, Carrigeen Industrial Estate Clonmel, Co Tipperary Jul 8-11 7pm 115/113/110 www.chadwicks.ie 353-5221822 Angel is a small, adventurous theatre company from Sheffield whose work challenges the conventional boundaries between performers and audience. Presumption is a significant contribution to Clonmel's Junction Festival, something different that has already earned its accolades.

Presumption has only two characters, a married couple in their 30s who are struggling with fading love and dreams as routine habits and passive emotions dominate their lives.

The play deconstructs their relationship through a mixture of soliloquy, flashback and ritual discussion, starting on a bare stage. Then the couple begin to build the set, bringing on pieces of furniture until they have finally created a room that reflects their collective personalities. It is called home.

Questions are raised. Do they really want a life together, and has that decision in fact already been made a long time ago? Sometimes the words they use are irritable and divisive, even while they are building for their future. It is the kind of theatre that delivers the shock of recognition.
