Sayles cel­e­brates union cen­te­nary

Trust the res­o­lute John Sayles to do the de­cent thing. The vet­eran in­die film-maker will be in Ire­land this au­tumn to help the Water­ford Coun­cil of Trade Unions cel­e­brate its cen­te­nary.

On Oc­to­ber 15th, Sayles will in­tro­duce a screen­ing of his su­perb Mate­wan (1987), a true story of union or­gan­i­sa­tion, in the his­toric city. The screen­ing will be pre­sented in part­ner­ship with two ad­mirable bodies: the Imag­ine Arts Fes­ti­val and Water­ford Film For All.
