Who knew, how­ever, that some­thing so neb­u­lous as dis­tri­bu­tion rights could be pur­chased in this man­ner? Va­ri­ety mag­a­zine, the show­biz paper of record, re­ports that Ital­ian Stal­lion, a no­to­ri­ous soft­core porn film star­ring Sylvester Stallone, went un­der the vir­tual ham­mer re­cently. Ap­par­ently the rights to the hor­ri­ble (we’re bet­ting) 1970 pic­ture fetched a pretty sub­stan­tial $412,100.

Stallone has al­ways claimed the film is pretty tame stuff. “About 10 peo­ple show up and they do a lot of kiss­ing and neck­ing, and that’s about it,” he told Play­boy, be­fore go­ing on to sug­gest that it might get away with a PG rat­ing to­day.
