Ewan in for a ghost of a chance
Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer (aka The Ghost) was the big winner at the European Film Awards in Talinn last weekend. The adaptation of Robert Harris’s roman à clef won six major awards: best film, director, script, soundtrack, production design and actor.
Best actor? Yes, Ewan McGregor did, indeed, somehow manage to grab the gong. Sylvie Testud won best actress for her performance in the insidious, impressive Lourdes. And the great Bruno Ganz picked up a deserved lifetime achievement award. See europeanfilmacademy.org
