Give Record Store Day a spin

In­de­pen­dent record stores the length and breadth of the coun­try are putting the fin­ish­ing touches to their plans for to­mor­row’s Record Store Day cel­e­bra­tions.

Dublin’s Tower Records is plan­ning its big­gest-ever event, with in-store per­for­mances on both floors from the likes of Steve Ma­son, Lykke Li and En­e­mies from 12pm. They’ll also con­tinue the party at The Work­man’s Club that night, where Ollie Cole, Cloud Cas­tle Lake, Sa­cred An­i­mals and more will play a free gig from 8pm.

Club nights Pogo and Ear­wig­gle will also host a gig in hon­our of the day at Twisted Pep­per, with sev­eral DJs and bands play­ing across three stages from 10pm.

Celtic Note on Nas­sau Street, mean­while, will host an in-store per­for­mance by multi-mil­lion-sell­ing Amer­i­can crooner Josh Groban, al­though en­try is lim­ited to those with wrist­bands.

In Cork, Plugd Records will open its new branch at Triskel Arts Cen­tre to­mor­row, Derry’s Cool Discs will have live mu­sic from 2pm and plenty of spe­cial of­fers, while Dublin’s All City Records and Lim­er­ick’s Beats Work­ing will host live DJs from 12pm. record­store­
