The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - News -

It’s not too often you hear of a charity making donations to their supporters, but that’s exactly what Trócaire have planned for later this month. They’re staging a gig dubbed Thanks, from Trócaire at Dublin’s Grand Social on June 23rd, which will feature Irish acts CODES, The Hot Sprockets, Storyfold, Afro-Irish collective Tig Linn and DJ iZem.

Entry to the gig is free to those who were involved in this year’s Honduras-focused Lenten campaign, while tickets will be available at ¤5 to other members of the public.

In keeping with the spirit of the campaign, the night will be Central Americanthemed. Latino guitarists and dancers, film footage, games and crafts from the region, and hot Honduraninspired snacks and cocktails will be available on the night.

“This definitely won’t be just your run-of-the-mill gig,” said 2FM DJ Ruth Scott, who will MC on the night. “We’re hoping there will be a laid-back, Latino carnival vibe to the event, and it looks like it’s going to be a great night.”
