The TickeT gig of The week

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - News - Photograph: Patrick O’Leary

It was a gig of two halves for vintage rockers The Cult who attracted an equally vintage sell-out crowd to the Academy on Tuesday night. “I’m as sick as two dogs,” said guitarist Billy Duffy. The band were clearly in rag order after their turn at the Download Festival last weekend. They did pick up the pace in the second half with a succession of crowd pleasers. Duffy dedicated She Sells Sanctuary to fellow rockers Cheap Trick, who were in the audience. They closed with Fire Woman and their version of The Doors’ Break On Through (To the Other Side).
