Rockeroke and pop céilí at Fringe
The programme for this year’s Absolut Dublin Fringe Festival (September 10th-25th) has been announced, and there are a number of events that will appeal to music fans. Icelandic band FM Belfast return to the festival on the 10th, a Pop Céilí and Rockeroke (rock karaoke with a full live band) event will be held on September 17th, while the acclaimed DJ Kormac will play on September 24th.
The festival will also host Switched On, a gig series at the Workman’s Club curated by local leftfield promoter Darren McCreesh. David Kitt’s newest project Spilly Walker will be joined by TR-ONE and Angkorwat on September 16th. On September 23rd, Twinkranes headline a night that includes performances by Bruno Spoerri, Somadrome and more, while the 24th hosts Patrick Wolf collaborator Serafina Steer, as well as Katie Kim and Lispector. There are also a host of musical events intertwined with dance performances and plays – Barrocco sees dance interpretations of the music of jazz musician Dave Brubek, and the play Love Songs for Losers is based on karaoke performances. fringefest.com
