The ballot box vs the box office
Forget Hallows. Most industry pundits were far more interested in the nether regions of last weekend’s US box office chart. Disappointingly for both poles of the US political spectrum, the Sarah Palin documentary, The Undefeated, performed neither poorly enough to justify gloating, nor well enough to justify, well, gloating.
Director Stephen K Bannon’s glowing depiction of the presidential hopeful’s “spiritual battle” has been variously described as “clip art”, “an endless series of meaningless platitudes”, “cartoonish” and likened to a “troop-rallying campaign infomercial as imagined by Michael Bay”.
