Christ­mas spe­cial for Nighthawks

Dublin’s fore­most arts col­lec­tive Nighthawks will top off a hugely suc­cess­ful 2011 tonight with a Christ­mas spe­cial on RTÉ’S Ra­dio 1’s Arena arts show from 7.30pm.

The col­lec­tive has gone from strength to strength in re­cent months, cu­rat­ing var­i­ous shows and stages at fes­ti­vals, as well as stag­ing their own reg­u­lar club nights at The Cobalt Café on North Great Ge­orge’s Street. The next show at that venue will take place on Jan­uary 7th, and will fea­ture mu­sic by The Gand­his, Cat Dowl­ing and Ailie Blun­nie, as well as com­edy and per­for­mance po­etry. Tick­ets are ¤13 and on sale from Ox­fam on Par­lia­ment Street.

Tonight’s ra­dio show will fea­ture per­for­mances and read­ings by O Em­peror, Der­mot Bol­ger and com­edy trio Foil, Arms & Hog, amongst oth­ers.

Nighthawks founder Stephen Kennedy is also stag­ing a Bea­tles trib­ute night at The­work­man’s Club on Jan­uary 28th. Cel­e­brated Scot­tish trib­ute band Re­volver will play live, while there will also be a per­for­mance of the Kennedy-penned short play Len­non v Mc­cart­ney.
