Ailbhe Malone will be competing in the sing-running relay with Jedward at the London Olympics
TRACK OF THE WEEK
Lost and Found by Lianne La Havas. You could be forgiven for lumping Lianne in with Emeli Sandé – they’ve both got hairstyles that rival Jedward in the hairspray stakes, and both sing considered, emotionally aware pop. But Emeli’s on her second circuit of love affairs, and Lianne, at just 21, is experiencing it all first time around. Lost and
Found is honest in the way that can only be expressed when you’re sure nobody’s listening. Except with a voice this lovely, we all are.
Ahead of the release of MDNA (we’ve heard it and it’s amazing), Madonna’s been trying to quash the perception that she’s a control freak. In a US radio interview, she explained: “You know, I hate to use the word ‘control’ so much, because people use and bandy that word about with me when it comes to my creative life. Everyone says, ‘Oh you’re a control freak and you like to be in control’.
“The thing is, everything I do, even my songwriting, I’m collaborating at all times. I value input from people, and I want it.” There’s nothing wrong with knowing what you want, Madge.
Jedward have an unlikely ally in JLS’S Oritsé Williams, who gave them a song for their last album. He told the Daily Record, “I wrote a song for Jedward – their last single Wow Oh Wow. It wasn’t widely known. I didn’t initially write the song for them, but when they were looking for songs I thought it would be perfect. Louis Walsh called me up and said: ‘I heard you wrote this song. Can I use it for Jedward?’ and I said: ‘Why not? Go for it’.”
In other Jedward news, the indefatigable duo ran the LA Marathon this week, with no training, in cycling shorts (such chafing!). And they made good time! Jedward boys in for a bit of chafing – ouch!
