Live mu­sic rules on Record Store Day

Dublin’s Tower Records is lead­ing the charge for Record Store Day, with free in-store per­for­mances on April 20th and 21st.

Tier­an­niesaur, The Rip­tide Move­ment and The Pale will play on Fri­day, with sets by Si­mone Felice, Hal, Sweet Jane, Elevens and more on Satur­day – the of­fi­cial world­wide day cel­e­brat­ing all things mu­sic and in­de­pen­dent.

Tower will also be stock­ing an ex­ten­sive se­lec­tion of the Record Store Day ex­clu­sive re­leases.

Elas­tic Witch in the Twisted Pep­per build­ing will cel­e­brate their first Record Store Day with sets by Op­timo DJS, Girls Names, Last Days of 1984, Si­mon Bird and more, while All City and Ear­wig­gle Records in Tem­ple Bar will have 50 lo­cal DJS play­ing all day.

A num­ber of re­gional stores are also on board, in­clud­ing Wingnut Records in Gal­way, where Nanu Nanu, Bouts and more will play at 2-6pm. Derry’s Cool Discs will have mu­sic both in their shop and in the Sandino’s venue next door. In Kilkenny, Roller­coaster Records plans a pro­gramme of DJS and bands.

Friendly Fires, Hyp­notic Brass En­sem­ble and Mmoths are the lat­est names to be added to the For­bid­den Fruit line-up. for­bid­den­fruit.ie

The Lost Broth­ers have se­cured a deal with long-run­ning la­bel Ace Records to re­lease their sec­ond al­bum, So Long John Fante, in the UK this May.

Glen Hansard will re­lease his de­but solo al­bum on June 15th. Rhythm & Re­pose will fea­ture con­tri­bu­tions by Mar­keta Ir­glova, Sam Ami­don and oth­ers.

Ru­fus Wain­wright will play Dublin’s Iveagh Gar­dens with a full band on July 18th. Tick­ets on sale now.
