Char­la­tans for Castlepalooza

The Char­la­tans will head­line this year’s Castlepalooza Fes­ti­val, which takes place in the grounds of Tul­lam­ore’s Charleville Cas­tle on Au­gust 3rd, 4th and 5th. The Mad­ch­ester in­die band will per­form their 1997 al­bum, Tellin’ Sto­ries, in its en­tirety, as well as hits from their back cat­a­logue.

Other bands in the line-up – this is the sixth year of the bou­tique mu­sic and arts event – in­clude Mer­cury Prize-nom­i­nated singer Ghost­poet, new Bri­tish “glam-folk” artist King Charles and UK beat pro­ducer Jon Phon­ics.

Donal Di­neen’s Parish, Lit­tle Green Cars and re­cent Choice Mu­sic Prize win­ner Jape are among the Ir­ish acts on the bill as are So­lar Bears, Mmoths, The Am­bi­ence Af­fair, Hush War Cry, Bouts, Le Galaxie, Katie Kim, Wind­ings, and more.

“We booked The Char­la­tans be­cause they’re so iconic. Tellin’ Sto­ries was such a big al­bum for peo­ple grow­ing up and we know this spe­cial show will con­nect with our au­di­ence,” Fes­ti­val di­rec­tor Cil­lian Ste­wart told The Ticket. Three-day camp­ing tick­ets are avail­able at ¤50 for one week only from to­day.

Ac­tor Eli­jah Wood will DJ at the forth­com­ing Bush­mills Live event, tak­ing place at the Co Antrim dis­tillery on June 20th and 21st.

For­mer Rolling Stones gui­tarist Mick Tay­lor will ap­pear at this year’s Rory Gal­lagher Fes­ti­val at Ballyshan­non on June 2nd.

The free monthly in-store gigs at Dublin’s Hil­figer store con­tinue this Satur­day with sets by Taran­tella Fall, Sac­cade and more.

Pas­sion Pit will re­lease their sec­ond al­bum, Gos­samer, this sum­mer.
