Other Voices in Derry and London

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - MUSICNEWS -

Having staged a gig in New York last year for its 10th birthday celebrations, the Other Voices series continues to expand with gigs in Derry and London next year.

The regular Dingle-based gigs will take place next month, on December 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Artists booked for performances in the town’s St James’s Church include Villagers, SOAK, The Unthanks, The Staves and Paul Buchanan, with more to be announced.

Neil Hannon, Jesca Hoop, Django Django and Marina and the Diamonds will play the Derry leg at Glassworks on February 8th, 9th and 10th, which is to tie in with the city’s UK City of Culture celebrations next year. The London Other Voices will be at the Barbican centre in April, with the line-up to be announced.

The Ticket can exclusively reveal that Aidan Gillen will return to host the series for his second year, and also that guitarist Aaron Dessner of The National – who played the series in 2010 – will curate an evening at the Dingle event, which will include soon-to-be-announced artists from the US and Australia. There will also be an open call for anyone interested in playing the intimate IMRO Other Room slot in Dingle; details will be announced on the official site and the Facebook page soon. other voices. ie
