Host of Irish stars going to the dogs

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - NEWS - By Lauren Murphy

A new dog-themed charity album featuring Cathy Davey, Neil Hannon, David Gray, Lisa Hannigan duetting with Graham Linehan, Villagers, Lisa O'Neill, Sharon Shannon, musical comedian David O’Doherty and many more will be released next month.

Oscar the Hypno-Dog (and Other Tails) is the brainchild of Davey and Hannon, whose love of dogs – and patronage of the Dogs in Distress charity – inspired them to gather together a group of friends to record an album. All money raised from the album sales will be donated to Dogs in Distress, which does not currently have a physical shelter and relies on a network of fosterers to look after their animals. Song titles on the 15-track album include Casey the Wonder Dog, Dog Baby and One Reason to Get a Dog.

Harry Haller and the Hooligans, a supergroup comprising many of the album’s featured musicians, recently performed on The Late Late Show. The album will be released on Davey’s own Hammertoe Records on Friday, December 7th. See dogsindistress.org
