Where are they now?
Formed in Coventry, 1977, The Specials (left) went through the usual break-ups, but are now back performing (minus founding member Jerry Dammers). Their most recent appearance? Hyde Park in July for the closing ceremony of the Olympics.
Formed in London, 1979, this all-female ska band is perhaps best known for the 1980 hit single, Let’s Do The
Rock Steady. The band split up in 1981, but some original members subsequently went on to form The Belle Stars. Both bands are now defunct.
Formed in Coventry, 1979, this band, fronted by “rude girl” Pauline Black, fused ska grooves with politically charged lyrics. Despite a hiatus here and there, as well as Black’s successful side career as an actor, The Selector is still going strong.
