Sick of Christ­mas yet? Well, you will be by De­cem­ber 29th, which is where Popical Is­land come in. The in­die-pop col­lec­tive’s Sick of Christ­mas party at Whe­lan’s Par­lour Bar will fea­ture Ske­locrats, Rhino Magic and Ru­ral Sav­age, while the Stag’s Head is also host­ing a postChrist­mas party, with The Gand­his, on the 28th, to ease you into the last days of 2012.

Once you’re suf­fi­ciently geed-up for the New Year cel­e­bra­tions, there are plenty to choose from. The Col­lege Green ex­trav­a­ganza aside, Vicar Street will host the third Turn­ing Pi­rate Mix­tape Party, with mu­si­cians in­clud­ing Lisa Han­ni­gan, Cathy Davey, Neil Han­non, Paddy Casey, We Cut Cor­ners and more. The Cast of Cheers will play The Work­man’s Club, Repub­lic of Loose play Whe­lan’s, and mu­si­cal com­edy duo Rub­ber­ban­dits will play The Vil­lage.

In Gal­way, the Róisín Dubh crowd will be en­ter­tained by Le Galaxie, En­e­mies and guests, while in Cork, lo­cal man Mick Flan­nery will play the Opera House and Daft as Funk hit Cyprus Av­enue.
