The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club

Freestyle You know him from Coronation Street and Red Dwarf (and as a presenter on Robot Wars). Craig Charles is also an impressive selector when it comes to soul and funk bangers. His BBC 6 music show has been running for a decade, and this compilation is testament to Charles’s nous and ear for whip-smart funky tunes, blazing brass, booming basslines and red-hot drums. It’s a compilation that covers all corners, including well-tuned covers (the Incredible Bongo Band resize Satisfaction as an XL funk classic, and The Apples’ do likewise with Rage Against the Machine’s Killing), classic funkfloor fare from Treva Whateva, and pitch-perfect retro funk from The Haggis Horns. The soundtrack to the funkiest, coolest party on your block this season. twitfunkandsoul
