A really in­ter­est­ing week brings Ce­line Byrne (above) in Mahler’s Rück­ert Lieder with the RTÉ NSO tonight, when Ste­fan Blu­nier also con­ducts Derek Cooke’s com­ple­tion of Mahler’s Tenth Sym­phony.

While that’s on in the NCH’s main au­di­to­rium, the Kevin Barry Room features Crash En­sem­ble cel­list Kate El­lis in a pro­gramme of solo cello pieces by mem­bers of the Ir­ish Com­posers’ Col­lec­tive.

Also tonight, at St Ni­cholas Church of Ire­land in Dun­dalk, Louth Con­tem­po­rary Mu­sic So­ci­ety present the Hil­liard En­sem­ble’s Gor­don Jones and the Car­ducci Quar­tet in the world pre­miere of Rus­sian com­poser Alexan­der Raska­tov’s Monk’s Mu­sic, “Seven words by Starets Siluan for string quar­tet and bass solo”, writ­ten in me­mory of fel­low com­poser Al­fred Sch­nit­tke in 2005.
