“And if it gets rough, then it’s time to get rough” – Haim bring it to Pop Corner

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - FRONT PAGE -

TRACK OF THE WEEK: Falling by Haim More Haim! We can’t help it, we’re obsessed with the sisters with the best hair in all of pop. Falling is an echo of their debut single, Forever, with a minor bassline. With a layered hook of “never look back, never give up, and if it gets rough, then it’s time to get rough”, and a slick guitar solo in the middle eight, it’s all we ever wanted from the LA trio.

We’re hearing the first rumblings of the direction Gaga’s new opus, ARTPOP, might take.

In an interview with Digital Spy, producer Zedd (who’s working on tracks for the album) explained: “The fact that she is so open-minded musically and creatively has made it easier in some ways. She wants me to do the craziest songs I can possibly do. I’m not thinking about fitting a shoe on the right foot. We’re doing something completely unique .” He went on, “she’s not been saying, ‘You need to please my fans so make the songs sound like this’, we’ve just made music.”

It seems Niall has become the sensible member of One Direction. Speaking to We Love Pop magazine, he explained that on a recent trip to a casino, “I won £100, which seemed reasonable, then I stopped. But I’ll have to say ‘No comment’ about the others.” He cryptically continued, “let’s just say it got a bit ugly and a lot of money was lost. A lot. When our management found out, we got a serious dressing-down about it.” Brian McFadden’s got other ideas though. He thinks he’s got Niall pegged. “I reckon Niall’s the naughty one,” McFadden told Radio Yorkshire. “Maybe because he’s Irish, I suppose, and the rest of the boys are from England, but he does remind me of the boys from Westlife quite a bit.”

In further One Direction news, you can now view the trailer for their 3D movie (due out on August 23rd) on http://bit.ly/XYVq0f
