It’s official. Ken Loach’s next film will be shot in Ireland. Co-produced by Element Films, and availing of funding from the Irish Film Board, Jimmy’s Hall tells the story of Irish socialist Jimmy Gralton. The picture, co-written by Loach regular Paul Laverty, follows the hounding of Gralton by the Irish authorities and his eventual deportation to the US in the 1930s. The script is derived from a play by Donal O’Kelly. The producers plan to shoot the film in Gralton’s native Leitrim.
