The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - LISTINGS -

What’s on your rider? A piece of ginger. It’s not very imaginative, is it?

What’s the best gig you’ve

been to? I saw Lau a few months ago. They gave me shivers like no other. And the worst? Any gig where people are not listening rather disturbs me.

What are your favourite and

least favourite venues? There is a place in Dornbirn, Austria called Tik, which I remember as being very spooky.

Most embarrassing on-stage

moment? I once used the word “tantric” in the wrong context and went red. What’s your crowd-pleasing number? Some like The Burger Van song.

Groupies. Would you? Ha! Have you a special stage wardrobe? I don’t have many clothes. Full stop. What’s the worst thing ever thrown at you? Well, it wasn’t thrown, but someone blew a high-pitched dog whistle at us last night. If you could be in any other band, which one? I would like to do an apprenticeship in a band like Björk’s. What’s your best tour story? I did a rap for an encore a few nights ago.

In conversation with Tony Clatyon-Lea. Rachel Sermanni plays Dingle tonight; Clonakilty, Co Cork on Wednesday; and Cork on Thursday
