Born to Die, or two if you count The Paradise edition), Del Ray makes her debut in Dublin with a pair of sold-out shows and a rake of Chinese whispers: does she write her own songs? Did she really live in a trailer park in her early 20s, working with the homeless and drink/drug dependent? Why were her previous albums withdrawn from iTunes?
Such gossip was bound to detract from the music, yet let there be no mistake: Del Ray’s repertoire is something of a cautiously adorable one-off. Cinematic retro-pop with lithe shades of hip-hop, lyrics that allude to wilderness-years sex and (literally) bruised relationships. Just can’t wait for this one, can you?
