KEITH JARRETT, GARY PEACOCK, JACK DEJOHNETTE

Somewhere ECM Pianist Keith Jarrett’s “standards trio” celebrate three decades as the undisputed heavyweights of international jazz with their first release in four years. Rumour has it that ECM records every one of the trio’s now carefully rationed live performances (they play just a handful of concerts every year), but only rarely does Jarrett consent to make the recordings public. So every new release is a cause for celebration, and the only competition Jarrett and his fellow geniuses are up against is their own already voluminous back catalogue. Here they clear the bar with room to spare, with a set that includes Solar, Stars Fell on Alabama and a ravishing version of Leonard Bernstein’s Somewhere, recorded in the pristine acoustics of Luzern’s KKL. ecmrecords.com
