All for Rory and more

JUNE BANK HOLIDAY WRAP See listings for details Another bank holiday weekend and, hopefully, another few days of halfway decent weather. The biggie this weekend is Dublin’s Forbidden Fruit; we recall last year’s event, which was rainsodden but excellent.

This year’s line-up is decent enough, but FF isn’t the only event on that snags the interest. Down Cork way there are two music festivals of note: in the city centre is the Cork Stout Festival 2013 bash, which features music trails as well as on-site gigs at the premises of Beamish & Crawford today (Seasick Steve) and tomorrow (Delorentos). Outside the city, commencing tomorrow, we have gigs from the likes of Royseven, Frank & Walters and Ryan Sheridan, each of who perform as part of Bandon Music Festival.

Up north in Ballyshannon, Co Donegal is the annual Rory Gallagher Festival, which features across the weekend blues and rock acts such as The Answer, Nine Below Zero (above), Pat McManus Band, Sinner Boy and Band of Friends.

Will the sun shine? Fingers crossed. TONYCLAYTON-LEA
