Choreographers, performers and dance scholars will debate what it means to be a female dancer in a three-day symposium in Limerick, starting on Thursday. Evening performances by Liz Aggiss, David Hoyle (above) and others in The Dance Limerick Space and the Limetree Theatre will explore concepts of identity, gender and the female body through contemporary dance, humour and physical movement. dancelimer Aestheticism and the sublime in contemporary Irish painting: it sounds a little daunting, but the idea is that the artists in Things go Dark want to short-circuit your analytical abilities and reach you on an emotional level, perhaps by giving you a fright. A symposium at 3pm on Sat May 3 promises to enlighten. Group Exhibition, The Model, The Mall, Sligo. Until Jun 29. the
