DANCE DUBLIN DANCE FES­TI­VAL

Emma Martin Dance opens the fes­ti­val with Tun­dra, a edgy blend of theatre, live mu­sic and dance ex­plor­ing our darker selves (Sa­muel Beck­ett Theatre, Tues­day-Fri­day, May 23, 7.30pm). The 12-day fes­ti­val brings world renowned Lon­don- based chore­og­ra­pher Rus­sell Maliphant to the Abbey Theatre and Cypriot chore­og­ra­pher Alexis Vas­sil­ious to the Project Arts Cen­tre with Please Be Gen­tle/Stay With Me. Lo­cal per­form­ers have also been ca­joled to form fleet­ing live body sculp­tures in city-cen­tre lo­ca­tions (May 24/25 at 1pm, 4pm). Chil­dren will be in­spired by Gan­dini Jug­gling (above) in the Pavil­ion Theatre in Dún Laoghaire (May 22-24) and Com­pag­nie Non Nova’s plas­tic bag per­form­ers in the Ark (May 22-25).
