A taste of Africa at NUI Galway

The Galway African Film Fes­ti­val will be kick­ing into ac­tion next Fri­day May 23rd. Among the films un­spool­ing in that fine city we find Ah­mad Ab­dalla’s Rags and Tat­ters, which of­fers an side­ways per­spec­tive on the Egyp­tian Arab Spring, and Biyi Ban­dele’s re­cent Half of a Yel­low Sun.

There are 11 films on of­fer along with a spe­cial chil­dren’s film, Felix from South Africa. Now in its sev­enth year, the fes­ti­val is hosted by the Hus­ton Film School in NUI Galway and is as­sisted by Galway City Coun­cil.
