Cro­nen­berg didn’t in­vent sex in cars

David Cro­nen­berg has still not quite for­given Ted Turner, who helped fi­nance Crash, for his han­dling of that film. At the press con­fer­ence for Maps to the Stars, Cro­nen­berg re­called that Turner tried to sup­press the film be­cause he felt it might en­cour­age people to have sex in cars. “I said: ‘You know there’s an en­tire gen­er­a­tion of Amer­i­cans who have been spawned in the back seat of a 1954 Ford’. So it’s not like I in­vented sex in cars.”
