The Force gets a bit more balance
When early announcements emerged about casting in J J Abrams’s upcoming Star Wars film, more than a few critics bemoaned the lack of women in the list.
The director and his team have won back some ground by confirming the inclusion of two interesting female actors. Lupita Nyong’o had long been pencilled in for a role, so the news that the Oscar-winner was on board caused few ructions. More surprising was the inclusion of Gwendoline Christie, who plays the mighty Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones. It seems unlikely that last actor will be reclining demurely behind a fan. Promising stuff.
