Mon­day nights need not be bor­ing any­more. Dublin­ers who are ea­ger to pro­long the weekend have two new op­tions on the gig front.

The Im­pro­vised Mu­sic Com­pany will be stag­ing monthly jazz, con­tem­po­rary and im­prov gigs in Whelan’s on Mon­day nights through­out the sum­mer, be­gin­ning on June 23rd with Lon­don-based Dubliner Lauren Kinsella’s jazz im­prov band Blue Eyed Hawk; Clang Sayne; and Selk.

July 21st will fea­ture a dou­ble-bill of OKO and Alarmist, On Au­gust 18th it’s the turn of En­sem­ble Eriu and Tree­lan, and the Guil­foyle-Nielsen Trio will be joined by Phisqa on Septem- ber 22nd. Tick­ets are ¤10 on the door or on­line from en­ter­tain­­ets.

If rock and in­die is more your thing, the Pleas­ing Fea­tures gig se­ries runs on the first Mon­day of ev­ery month at The Work­man’s Club.

The next gig, on July 7th, will fea­ture five Ir­ish acts in­clud­ing Other Crea­tures, The Box­ing Plot, Loop Cul­ture, Soldiers Can’t Dance and Cloud Cul­ture.
