Tell you what, you do like Mondays
Monday nights need not be boring anymore. Dubliners who are eager to prolong the weekend have two new options on the gig front.
The Improvised Music Company will be staging monthly jazz, contemporary and improv gigs in Whelan’s on Monday nights throughout the summer, beginning on June 23rd with London-based Dubliner Lauren Kinsella’s jazz improv band Blue Eyed Hawk; Clang Sayne; and Selk.
July 21st will feature a double-bill of OKO and Alarmist, On August 18th it’s the turn of Ensemble Eriu and Treelan, and the Guilfoyle-Nielsen Trio will be joined by Phisqa on Septem- ber 22nd. Tickets are ¤10 on the door or online from entertainment.ie/tickets.
If rock and indie is more your thing, the Pleasing Features gig series runs on the first Monday of every month at The Workman’s Club.
The next gig, on July 7th, will feature five Irish acts including Other Creatures, The Boxing Plot, Loop Culture, Soldiers Can’t Dance and Cloud Culture.
