When Sheena Gra­ham-Ge­orge, an Orkney­based artist, was awarded the Hein­rich Boll res­i­dency on Achill in 2009, she was moved and fas­ci­nated by a nearby cil­lín, a burial ground for un­bap­tised ba­bies and in­fants. (Plus, she dis­cov­ered, ship­wrecked sailors and sui­cides). Dur­ing a 2012 res­i­dency at Cus­tom House Stu­dios, she be­gan work on this in­stal­la­tion, in­spired by talk of an is­land cil­lín “car­peted with daisies” in the sum­mer.
